i2BASQUE is a Plan Euskadi en la Sociedad de la Información programme, developed by the Basque Government Education, Universities and Research Department.

It focuses on supporting the RDI Community in the Basque Country, providing telecom and ICT service infrastructures to Basque Science and Technology Network players:

  • State and Public Universities: UPV/EHU, Deusto, TECNUN, Mondragon, UNED
  • Science and Technology Centres
  • Hospitals and Biomedical research
  • R&D management entities

Infrastructures

The network i2BASQUE 10G is our main infraestructure. It has a "Trunk Network" with four points of presence linked by lambdas of 10 Gbps, three *WDM rings with capacity until 100 Gbps in Bizkaia (Bilbao-Leioa-Zamudio), Donostia-San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz, and connections by optical fibre in all the Technological Parks (Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Miñano, Polo Garaia).

i2basque has connections with the PdP of RedIRIS in Leioa and Vitoria-Gasteiz. RedIRIS is our conectivity provider in the state and abroad.
